This is my season.
I’ve waited, my skin longing
for the first cool breeze.
The very first cool breeze.
The first hint of change.

I flower when colours fade,
and I bloom when leaves fall.
I hit my stride with summer-tired limbs
unused to the tasks ahead.

I’ll turn the earth and bury seeds
like baby planets that will lie
in wait till spring
and turn my universe upside down,
with its own colours of greens, purples, and blues,
and the inevitable cycle of life’ll keep turning.

And I flower when colours fade,
and I bloom when leaves fall,
and hit my stride with summer-tired limbs
responding to the tasks ahead.
